We develop all of our own software in house including software for recovering FAT based operating systems, NTFS, Unix, Linux, MAC.
We also have developed our own tape recovery software that allows to to image tape drives and recover the data from the image or even directly from the tape.
We have written our own RAID recovery software that allows us to enter individual and manufacturer specific information so as to ensure striping techniques are followed exactly.
reasoning behind using our own data recovery software
We write our own software as it enables us to recover data with the best possible results. For example, a hard drive we received which was originally NTFS had been formatted to FAT32. It had been to another data recovery company who used commercially available software on it and they could not recover any of the data, as the software 'thought' it was a FAT32 volume. Using our sofware and knowing the drive's previous configuration we were able to fully recover all of the data on the drive.
Another job involved a RAID-5 array where one of the drives had failed and would not rebuild because a second drive was failing. After imaging the failing drive and using our parameter based software, again we were able to fully recover all of the data on the array
It is exactly for these types of recovery that using proprietry software gives the best results. Commercial software can only perform according to a limited rule-set. By having the ability and expert knowledge, we can use our own paramters to make as much data is recovered as possible.
